Eylure - For Men

I was pretty stunned when I came across these little numbers...
But then I thought about it, and it was really only a matter of time before someone created these!

What you're looking at are Eylure's latest false eyelash offering, what I am calling 'Guylashes', or Eylure Natural Lashes For Men.

Now, we already have everything else beauty/cosmetic wise for men... makeup, hair dye, moisturisers, self tanners etc etc etc so really, why not eyelashes too?

I think just as some men hate fake eyelashes on girls, so some girls will probably dub this new metrosexual product 'gay', but actually I see these being popular with (extreme) well groomed men, both gay and straight!

I look forward to spotting my first pair fluttering this Christmas season!

THAT Harper's Bazaar cover

Literally when I saw this, my mind was blown. HOW fantastic is this?!

For their December 2011 cover, Harper's (UK) have taken the SUPEREST supermodels of the 90s and transformed them into Duran Duran, for the band's new song 'Girl Panic'.

Each of the models is one of the band, with Naomi Campbell as lead singer Simon Le Bon. I am so inspired by how FABULOUS they all look in their forties, and the fashion and rocking attitude in the spread is fabulous. Truly I think the best magazine cover I have seen in a long time, but with these women reunited how could you go wrong?!

From L - R: Yasmin Le Bon, Helena Christensen, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Eva Herzigova.

The Help

I recently went to see The Help, an adaptation of the bestselling book by Kathryn Stockett. Having read the book I was excited to see the film, but a bit dubious of how it would translate to the big screen. The book is based in Jackson, Mississippi, before the Civil Rights Movement when white families employed black women as nannies and housekeepers, and racism was, for most, a completely normal and acceptable way of life. The book is told through the voices of Aibileen and Minny - the Help and 'Skeeter' - a young white girl who secretly defies the racist attitudes of her town, and with Aibileen and Minny's help writes an anonymous book, telling all about the terrible way black people are treated in Jackson by the women who employ them.

The film, starring Emma Stone, as Skeeter, Viola Davis as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny, with Jessica Chastain as Celia and Bryce Dallas Howard as Hilly, was fantastic, a well told adaptation of the book. It wasn't sugar coated at all, which I thought it might be, and each of the characters was very well cast, particularly Bryce Dallas Howard as Hilly who does evil fantastically, and Emma Stone as Skeeter.

I don't think the film has been promoted particularly well which is a shame, as I think it is a very important time in American history, told from the point of view of the Black women living through it, so I would definitely recommend catching it in the cinema if you can!

We Shall Remember Them

Armistice Day was this week, a day which is close to my heart, being the child of an Air Force Veteran.

I think it is a really important day in history, and I have strong feelings about commemorating it with a two minute silence for all the fallen heroes, and supporting the troops even in a small way by buying and wearing a poppy.

Last year I went a step further by sending a message to the troops on Armistice Day last year, it is a small gesture but I think it is important that the brave young men, and women, feel supported by people back home in the country they are giving their lives to protect.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in doing, and it really only takes a minute, here's the link to do this:

Testing... Testing... 1 2 3...

Just testing the Blogger app to see what blogging on the go from my iPhone is like!

Foundation Trials and Tribulations

I am a complete makeup junkie. There, I said it.

I am also mixed race girl, and relatively pale with it. I tan to a very deep brown in the Summer within about two days, but in the Winter months I am kind of the colour of a milky coffee, and prone to looking pale and washed out without some colour in my cheeks!

Having gone through many trials and tribulations as a teen in an attempt to find a foundation that at least matched my skin tone I have been through everything from Natural Collection to Chanel.

I finally thought I was done with the search when I hit 20 and discovered No 7's 'Intelligent Balance Mousse Foundation'. I LOVED this as it was a great match for my skin, it had wonderful coverage, no need for powder to eliminate the T Zone shine I am so prone to... etc etc etc.

And then it was discontinued.

I am now older, wiser, more in touch with what my skin wants and needs. I am currently working my way through MAC's collection of foundations... but I expect the search for the perfect foundation will be with me for life.

A Little Bit About Me...

My name is Olivia. I am 23. I was born in Swindon on the 30th March 1988, just after my twin sister Alicia.

I am a mixed chick, my daddy is African-American and my mum is British.

My favourite colour is pink.

My favourite food is either broccoli or mango.

I went to the University of Wales Institute Cardiff where I got a love for the Welsh accent, a degree in Events Management, and I was a Cardiff University Snakecharmers cheerleader - Go Cobras!

I am single.

I am a total cosmetics junkie - I own about 30 nail varnishes... oops...

I love all kinds of music, from pop to metal and I do NOT believe in being a music snob.

I don't know what I believe in.

My favourite sports are rugby, american football and of course cheerleading.

I want to go to South America so badly.

Noone but me knows my magic number.

My favourite place in Bristol is quite possibly Brandon Hill.

I love Japanese food.

I am 5'8" and hate it.

I can't drive (but watch this space!)

Twenties/Female/Bristol

So here we are..

I made a New Years Eve resolution last year to, among other things, start my own blog. Here we are in November and I have so far messed around a bit with blogging, but hopefully this is here to stay.

I chose my blog title as these three little words kind of sum me up! Like if someone asked you, describe yourself in THREE words... or, my response to the pervy A/S/L questions at the beginning of an online chat! So this blog will (very basically) be about what the title suggests... a glimpse into the life of a girl who is 20s/Female/Bristol.
